Delphi:
On the 20th of September, Transition years left Portumna Community School early in the morning on route to Delphi Resort and Adventure centre for three days.
On our first day, our first activity was called “high ropes”, these were a group of activities we would be completing high off the ground. I found these activities challenging as I am afraid of heights but I can defiantly say the activities helped me overcome my fear.
After high ropes we returned to the hotel for dinner and after dinner we were taken on a walk through the forest. When we returned we were treated to our dessert which was a delicious chocolate chip cookies.
On our second day, we completed our hike for the Bronze Gaisce Award. Our hike started at 10am and we finished around 4pm, the hiking was defiantly challenging but it was very enjoyable.
After dinner we went to the campfire which was great fun.
On our final day, we went for a surfing lesson, this was by far my favourite part of the trip.
We got a quick demo from our guides and then we got to try it out for ourselves.
Afterwards we returned to the hotel for lunch before returning home to Portumna.
Reflection:
Personally I loved the experience in Delphi, I feel as though we became more comfortable around each other as a group and helped some of us gain confidence.
I would highly recommend a visit to Delphi whether your in Transition Year or not.
