Overall I really enjoyed Transition year, it was a year of memories and new experiences never to be forgotten.
I for sure could not pick a highlight for the year, from surfing in Delphi to boarding the Shamballa roller coaster in Porta Ventura, or even taking to the stage for GAA With A Twist ever part of the year has been a highlight.
If I was to pick one thing that made the year great it would have to be friends, both new and old. I think TY has brought the whole year closer together and that defiantly showed as the year progressed.
This year has had many firsts for me, for example becoming part of the public speaking team and competing in the Knights of St.Columnbanus Public Speaking competition and getting all the way to the Connacht final.
Also getting to take part in the lighthouse programme witht the fifth and sixth class students of Portumna Primary School was fun and I learned loads about becoming a leader.
But for sure one of my favorite parts of the year was my work experience, I can safely say I had some of the best work experiences of the whole year getting to spend a week with the Irish Defense, training and learning about the whole life in the Army and also traveling to the Irish Air Core and to Oranmore to see Cadette training under camouflage which was an amazing experience.
My second work experience was in a veterinary clinic, which was so busy and made for a crazy week, seeing the highs and lows of both farming and veterinary combined for calving and lambing to calves and dogs being put down.
I loved my work experience because I got to see what an amazing job being a vet is from saving a dogs life on an operation table after a car accident to saving an unborn calf involved in labor difficulty.
